MT Makina Pallet Waste Recycling Systems: Comprehensive Facility and Equipment Guide
Wooden and plastic pallets, indispensable in the logistics and transportation sector, create a significant waste burden when they reach the end of their lifespan. However, with the right technology and equipment, these pallet wastes can be transformed into valuable raw materials that can be utilized in many areas, from biomass energy to particleboard production. Pallet recycling systems designed and manufactured with the assurance of MT Makina have undergone special engineering tests to make your business's waste management as efficient and profitable as possible.

1. Pallet Crushing and Shredding Machines
At the heart of pallet recycling are crushing machines, which quickly and efficiently size whole pallets.

  • Pallet Shredder: These are high-capacity, wide-mouthed, specially designed crushers that accept whole wooden and plastic pallets, along with their nails and metal fasteners, directly into their hopper and shred them into coarse pieces at high speed.

  • Double-Shaft Pallet Shredders: Operate on the principle of high torque and low speed. They are specifically designed to easily break down wooden pallets containing nails, screws, and metal fasteners. Thanks to their wear-resistant, special alloy blades, they offer a long service life.

  • Single-Shaft Shredders: Used to further finen pallet chips (wood shavings) that have been coarsely crushed. Thanks to its internal sieve system, the wood pieces are reduced to precisely the desired millimeter dimensions.

2. Metal Separation and Sorting Systems
One of the biggest problems in recycling wooden pallets is nails. At MT Makina facilities, advanced separation technology is used to preserve the quality of the wood and prevent damage to the blades of subsequent machines.

  • Magnetic Band Separators (Overband Magnetic Separators): As the wooden pieces with nails coming out of the crushing machine move along the conveyor, a powerful magnetic band hanging from above automatically attracts all the metal/nail waste and transfers it to a different hopper.

  • Magnetic Drum Separators: Integrated into the discharge points of conveyor belts, these systems operate using a continuously rotating magnetic structure and the principle of gravity to separate fine nails, staples, and small metal particles hidden among wood chips with high purity.

3. Transportation and Transmission Equipment
Heavy-duty conveying systems ensure uninterrupted and waste-free operation within the facility.

  • Heavy-Duty Conveyor Belts: These are specially reinforced, tear-resistant rubber belt systems used to feed entire pallets to the crusher and transport the crushed chips to other stations.

  • Z-Elevators and Screw Conveyors: These are enclosed and safe systems used for the vertical or inclined transport of wood chips and fine shavings.

4. Screening and Sizing Systems

The resulting wood chips need to be standardized according to their intended use (pellet production, particleboard industry, landscaping, etc.).

  • Trommel (Rotary) Screens: These screens separate crushed wood pieces according to their size. Unwanted dust or very large pieces are directed out of the system or back to the crusher.

  • Vibrating Screens: Used in facilities requiring more precise sizing, they maximize product standards.

5. Dust Collection and Filtration Systems

The process of crushing wood and pallets generates significant amounts of dust and sawdust. This equipment is essential for facility safety and personnel health.

  • Cyclone and Jet Pulse Filter Systems: These systems vacuum the air within the facility, trapping wood dust. They eliminate the risk of explosion (dust explosion) and collect the fine sawdust that mixes with the air, ready to be pressed.

6. Biomass Utilization: Pellet and Briquetting Lines

Wooden pallets that have been broken down and stripped of metal can be sold directly as fuel or raw materials, or they can be transformed into higher value-added products.

  • Wood Pellet Machines: These machines press ground and dried pellet dust under high pressure, transforming it into "wood pellets," a high-calorie and environmentally friendly biomass fuel.

  • Briquette Press Machines: These are hydraulic or mechanical press systems that enable the large-scale production of fuel briquettes for fireplaces and industrial boilers from pallet waste.

Why MT Makina Pallet Recycling Facilities?

  • Turnkey Solutions: Design, installation, and automation of the entire line, from pallet feeding to pellet bagging.

  • High Efficiency (Automation): Minimum personnel requirements and maximum workplace safety thanks to PLC-controlled smart panels.

  • Complete Protection Against Nails and Metal: The rotor and blade systems, manufactured from special alloy steel, are extra resistant to dulling, even on spiked tracks.

  • Energy Saving: Motor and gearbox optimizations that enable high tonnage production with low energy consumption.
